I have had the privilege to work with Jamie Chenault in multiple capacities over the past two years. I have never met anyone with as much energy, enthusiasm, and passion for students and technology. I will never forget the first Professional Development that I attended and she was the presenter. Her passion ignited the room. I learned so much in such a short period of time to take back to my classroom.
As a parent of children in the district her expertise and excitement has been invaluable. This year the Nelson County School district went 1:1 with chromebooks for 3rd, 6th, and 9th graders. My daughter is a third grader at Cox’s Creek Elementary. Quickly I was amazed at all the technology programs and skills she was utilizing in class. As a freshmen teacher trying to implement new technology, her third grade class was always a few steps ahead because of her teacher and Mrs. Chenault. My daughter would come home from school so excited to tell me what “Ms. Jamie” had taught them in class. My younger son is the same way.
Across the district she has ignited a curiosity for technology and learned that was not previously there. Nelson County was nowhere near the level of technology implementation before Jamie. She has encouraged countless teachers and administrators to step out of their comfort zone and learn new technology. This has had a direct effect on students that is observable. Many educators and students gained their Google Level 1 and Level 2 certifications because of the hours Jamie has put into the program. These training have also happened in the evenings on her own time.
Jamie is quick to jump in whenever she is needed and always willing to come into classes despite her busy schedule. Mrs. Chenault truly has a servant’s heart. She will go above and beyond to help her colleagues and students. As an educator new to Google and technology she quickly makes you feel comfortable to ask questions and take risks. She is the same with students.
Jamie Chenault is a light and whatever school district she works for will be very blessed to have her.
